I think this is an amazing idea. I do have a couple of concerns, or hesitations.
You placed a very reasonable limit of one book per year. But that might actually be detrimental to those who sign up first. If there's not much of a network in place yet and I launch a book, it won't be very helpful. But then the early adopters would have to wait a full year to launch another book. I get that it's a chicken and egg situation, but maybe you see my point.
I'm also a little hesitant about the fact that I'm writing a Christian book. I'm concerned that a lot of people might refuse to purchase a religious book despite being a part of the group. In the same token, I suppose I would have difficulty purchasing something that was openly hostile to my religion (say a book on witchcraft or something).
I do think the idea is fantastic and I am likely to use your services soon. But those were a few of my first thoughts.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comments Jason. I’m playing the long game here, so am perfectly ok with waiting for subscriber count to grow before I start seeing the VIPs sign up. Having said that, I’ve already got interest from people planning to sign up as VIPs soon, even with my 280 subscriber count as it stands. I’m excited to see the response to the first campaign and hopefully there will be proof that such a network works. Also, even just 50 sales within a short period of time is enough to give a new book a boost and potentially get it to category bestseller (if that is one of the author’s goals).
As to your comments about the Christian genre, maybe there’s an opportunity here - you could start your own Christian author book launch network?
I'm glad to hear you're already getting interest! I hope I didn't overstep—I'm just analytical. Like I said, I think it's a great idea and I'm most likely going to take part. I appreciate out-of-the-box thinking.
I'm not sure if I'm ready to start my own book launch network but it's certainly something to keep in mind!
Love that idea to learn about fellow authors and help them succeed. This is about investing into karma of the greater good of authors.
